business card design tips
How can I make my little projects more successful?
I have a lot of time to spare.
I am trying to learn a number of things at once:
- Driving
- Creating and Selling Business Cards
- Making my own ringtones using audacity
- Accounting
- Web Design (using FrontPage and Dreamweaver)
- Graphic Design (PhotoShop)
- Writing and Expressing myself effectively
- My Health
I am young and very ambitious. And I think it’d be pretty cool to learn all these things and become as healthy as I can.
However, almost everything I come accross ends up being a lot harder than it initially seems!
If you are starting out with web design or photoshop it is impossible to find a start. There are huge archives of info on the internet but no site seems to systematically approach any of the topics. You just get thrown in at the deep end.
Any tips or ideas are appreciated 
Angelaini’s advice is sound. Learn one thing at a time. Before you even do that, it’s worth putting together a rough plan of what you want to do and by when. Think about where you want to be in 10 years, 5 years, 3 years and a year and work out your actions from there. How do these things build up to fit your long-term goals?
There’s very little that’s easy to do but with a little perseverance and determination, you can make it happen. And when you’ve achieved something you’ll be amazed how simple it seems looking back on it!
Check out Front Page and Dreamweaver for templates. They’re a good place to start. We use Adobe Go Live, which is very similar, take a template and then customise it to the style we want. It makes life easier.
Photoshop – just play with it and push it! We started using it nearly 10 years ago and spent time experimenting. The guides feature is one of the most useful for laying out graphics. Use them to mark out your quiet space at the edge, for marking centres and aligning objects across a design.
