Legal Aid Online Privacy Newsletter /?

Someone has been posting personal information about me in a (former high school newsletter and on the site of the former). I have not given permission to have such information – the residence marital status, etc. – posted, and tried to ask the person not to do it again (and taking jobs already in place). He / She refused, so I contacted the alumni organization to take the information down. I realize that this will probably turn in a legal battle, and I was looking online to find help for that. However, the Privacy Act seems to be only on business / consumer relations and breach of government on matters of procreation. What area of law would be my problem falls under?

Unfortunately you have no recourse. As has been said before, your name, residence, and marital status are all issues Public Folder. What do you think of defamation, but it is a defense to libel that information posted is true. For example, if they have displayed that you were gay and married to your partner, you could take legal measures that would be wrong. However, only display your location, and marital status is legal if it is true. In addition, the Privacy Act of 1974 does not cover you as it applies only to documents held by an organization.
