business letter format spacing

I have Microsoft Office Word 2007 – how can I make it look like normal Microsoft Word?

This laptop was given to me with this software already installed.

The Microsoft Office word doesn’t have File/Edit/View/Insert/Format etc. on top. It has tabs labeled Home/Insert/PageLayout/References, etc. It looks like it’s set up for business people. It also has these huge blocks w/letters that says “normal” “no spacing” “heading1″ “heading 2″ that I can’t get rid of.

How can I get this to look like the normal, simple Microsoft Word (1997) that I used to have? Is the stuff on top permanent, I can’t find any options to make it look right…

First, a heads-up: That Microsoft Office may be a trial version, good for 25 uses or 60 days. When it expires, you’ll be able to read and print your files, but not much more.

Now for some help with Word 2007′s new interface. There is no way to set back the clock to Word 2003 or earlier, but here are some tips to help you make the adjustment:

Most of what used to be under Tools->Options is now accessible this way:

1.Click the round Office button in the upper-left corner of the window.
2.Click the Word Options button.

The ALT key, if pressed by itself, will bring up flags for some of the old ALT keysrokes that may help.

Similarly, ALT/F goes to the Office button’s file menu. At least some of the secondary keystrokes (ALT/F A for File->Save As, for instance), seem to still be there.

Many of the old keyboard shortcuts (CTRL/A, CTRL/S, CTRL/O, for instance) still work.

Most of the old dialog boxes are still there, often one level under the Ribbon’s interface. In particular, any group on a Ribbon tab that has a little arrow in the lower right corner leads to that old familiar dialog box when you click the arrow.

Remember the right-click and use it. It’s still the fastest way to Font and Paragraph.

Sincerely hope that helps.
