How do I find companies who are looking for advertising opportunities?
I am currently working as part of the Marketing Board for a magazine in my college and I need to sell ads. I know there are companies out there that want to advertise, but how can I find them?
I found that one of the best ways to find companies looking to advertise is to find those who are already advertising. For example, the yellow pages offer a lot of tracks. The good news is that you know already that they are ready spend money to promote their business. Make sure you do your due diligence in search of company announcements, promotions, and website (if applicable) before approaching them. In addition, it is important to have some ideas / samples of your business ads has done for other companies in the same sector. Such preparation takes the edge off and allows the potential customer to see that you are well prepared, serious about their business, and knowledgeable than you. One more note: You can find listings in a ton of other places (billboards, Television, newspapers, local magazines), but always keep in mind that the larger the ad, the more money has been spent, This could mean a potentially more important to you.
