business resume tips

Securing a job depends a lot on your capabilities and presentation, and your resume is the first step towards that process. The first thing you need to do is write your resume or improve on your current one; if you find this difficult to do, or you simply don’t have the time, hire someone to write it for you.

Once you are done with your resume, you need to know how to distribute it effectively. There are various methods that can help you with your resume distribution. Some channels offer resume distribution free of cost, whereas some charge a fee. Some methods take more time, and some are very fast with the results.

The point here is that you should carefully decide how you are going to distribute your resume.

How Can I Select The Best Resume Distribution Method?

If you want to select the best resume distribution method, then you should spend some time and analyze the pros and cons of each method.

Manual: Nowadays, the Internet has replaced old conventional methods, but this approach is not completely dead and some people still prefer the older methods. Some people distribute their resumes by finding and responding to suitable jobs in the classifieds that interest them.

Advantages-
-You can pick the job that you would like to respond to
-You can personalize your response towards each employer

Disadvantage
-It is too time consuming

Recruiter: Recruiters are paid for filling positions within a specific company. Many recruiters specialize in specific areas that enable them to look for candidates who fit into specific categories. When you forward your resume to a recruiter, they might immediately forward your resume for any appropriate openings. If they have an opening that fits your skills, then you could be recruited immediately!

Advantages-
-Recruiters can find new openings before you do
-By letting recruiters manage your job search, you are more efficient

Disadvantages-
-You need to send your resume to many recruiters to get favorable results
-Finding the best recruiter could be time consuming

Job Fairs: Job fairs are planned get-togethers for employers and job search candidates. Basically if you walk into a room that is full of employers from various companies, you could either be immediately selected for an interview, or you might simply get lost in the crowd.

Advantages-
-You can simultaneously meet hundreds of employers in short span of time
-Face to face approach allows personal interaction

Disadvantages-
-Limited to the companies that attend job fair
-Job fairs are stressful, busy and intimidating affairs

Post Your Resume On The ‘Net: Some job searchers love to boost their chances of getting an interview by enabling employers to find them. There are various job sites that allow you to post your resume online. Some specified career sites allow job seekers to post their resumes within a specific industry.

Advantages-
-Many job sites offer this service free of cost
-This option encourages employers to approach you with job offers

Disadvantages-
-Generally, such sites contain hundreds or thousands of job seeker resumes
-Low success rate

When you are deciding how to best distribute your resume, it is sometimes best to employ a combination of the above methods. Not only will you avoid putting all your eggs in one basket, but you will reduce your stress considerably.
