business risk vs financial risk

High risk vs. job security?
I have been faced with what could be a life altering dilema. My dream job of owning my own business which of course happens to come with financial risk but if it works would be quite emotionally fulfulling long term. Or.. a job offer doing what I really don’t like to do, but which comes with great pay, benefits in a solid company and very secure long term. I am NOT a kid anymore (almost 40) so taking such a chance scares me a bit, but on the other hand those who do not take risks in life usually don’t get anywhere. I do not want to be one of those people who 10 yrs down the road asks myself, “what if?” Anyone here have a similar dilema? If so, which path did you take?
I depends on what your responsibilities are. If you have a family to support, then the stable income and good benefits may be more important than the thrill of your dream job. However if you do not have anyone to support the freedom of your own business, may be worth the risk.
