Search Engine Marketing – Making the Internet work for you!

70% of search engine users click on organic results rather than authors. Having your website in the first page of an organic listing can make or break an advertising campaign. Although you can not buy or offer for a position, there are ways to ensure that your site is above the others.

Follow these eight simple tips to get your business visible on search engines.

1. Make your site crawler friendly – It is important that search engines can crawl through your site and keywords to identify your company. To make it easier for them, minimize the use of charts and tables to avoid deep nested entirely. Second, make sure your name and address are included as text on the page, not only in images or image files. The title of your page must contain your name, address, and keywords that describe your business. It is also a good idea to place a "H1" header up your home page that has your company name, address and the keywords they contain.

2. Duplicate your business address – In addition to placing your business address shown on the page, also include it in the bottom of the page as a footer. It helps to shorten the company in one of the addresses and then exit in the second. Abbreviated statements can sometimes be misinterpreted by search engines, in order to have Two variants of names, you will have a greater probability of return.

When submitting an ad, make sure your information is correct and your description of the business is complete. It is also important to ensure you have the same keywords as you use your website. Your description should have all the information that the potential customer will need to contact you, including city and county in which you are based in.

Finally, through the photos of your business on search engines and replace the poor inappropriate ones. This will improve the image of your business if a potential client find you in an image search.

4. Get your business rated – Ask your satisfied customers to write reviews and rate your business on Google, Yahoo and MSN. If possible, ask them to use the same keywords you used in the description of the company on your website. Make sure the comments are unique and spaced over a time.

5. Solicit local ties – All web directories that correspond to your area and ask them to link to your website. Contact your local Chamber of Commerce and ask them to link to your business from their website.

6. Investigate your competition – Do a local search for your business keywords (ie, Range Rover, Lincoln, United Kingdom) and see who your competitors. Find out who is linking to your competitors and to investigate if you can get the same sites link to your company.

You can find their links by going to Yahoo and typing "Linkdomain:" and then the website of your competitor (ie linkdomain: www.yourcompetitorssite.com). Click on "inlinks" in the results page to show connections.

It is also important to check inlinks to your site and see who is linking to you. If you have been linked to, to ensure that information on these sites is correct, and contact them if it is not.

7. Check the directory information – Look for your company contact information on your local phone company's website and in local telephone directories. In doing so, make sure the business intelligence they have is correct. If the information is outdated or incorrect have changed.

8. Create separate Web pages for various cities and regions – if your company serves several cities or regions, consider creating separate web pages for different premises. To avoid duplicate content issues, make sure you have unique content and relevant to each specific local pages. Include county and city when describing your company. It is also a good idea to add directional descriptors such as central, western or south.

By following these eight simple steps that you can make an excellent starting point to improve your local search rankings.
