Is a thank you card appropriate after an interview?
I interviewed for a middle school teaching position. The school is in a country town– really laid back and kind of old fashioned. Normally following an interview, I would send a business letter thanking the employer for their time. But my gut’s kind of telling me that a hand-written thank you card would be more appropriate following a teacher interview. I don’t know if it’s because teaching is sort of a less formal career than say working at a law firm; I just think a thank you card instead of a letter would be nice and personable. What do you think? Too informal? Too mushy?
I’m majoring in Human Resources Management. Normally I would say no to the hand written card, but if you felt the interview was more casual than a corporate type, then go for it! Normally it’s polite to send an email or typed business letter, so either way you won’t go wrong.
