business world brokers

is this what I signed up for, is this how its going to be?
i got a new job in the financial district. all lawyers, bankers, brokers, and what not. i find it so gaudy. like its all a big show. everyone decked out in nice suites and business attire. people seem fake like its all an act.no one really cares about eachother except themselves. a lot of the girls seem kinda stuck up. not saying gold diggers but… kinda. and i found out that it is all about connections and who you know. i just wanted to be a trader but the world its in is so different than where im from (humble beginnings). i just dont know if i belong there. is this how the corporate world is.
This is exactly what the corporate world is like and it’s not going to change anytime soon. You basically have two options:
1. Become one of them in the business world. You will learn how to stay on top of deals and self promote without looking like you’re trying too hard. When the work day is over, you turn it off and go about your life. That’s easier said than done.
2. Try working for a non-profit, start-up, or something off from the financial district. Maybe you can become a financial adviser?
Good luck! You sound like a good and down to earth person and I see very few of those in the corporate world.
