Help on setting up a web server?
I’d like to know how to set up a web server. I don’t plan on doing it as a business, I just want to access my files from any computer anywhere. I’d like to do it with out setting up software, besides an internet browser, on the accessing computer and preferably free software, if any at all, on the serving computer. It would be nice if you could also instruct me in how to set up a password to protect certain files. I have researched free online storage and am not at all interested. Please include as many details as possible. Serious answers only please.
Jamie has some useful stuff to say, but it is all about 1 level above my head.
Note: I have Windows XP and would like to keep it. Also free stuff (downloads) works best for me.
